There have already been countless stories about how titles such as Wii Fit have been integrated into rehabilitation programs for poorly patients, and now it looks like Wii Fit and the Balance Board will have a part to play too.
Blog author Karen Johnson explains how the weight-sensitive pads of the Balance Board could be very beneficial to the treatment of stroke victims, those with cerebral palsy, and even hemiplegia (paralysis throughout one side of the body).
The Balance Board's accurate feedback on a player's weight distribution is perfect for those with brain injuries, especially when those with one limb stronger than the other can be encouraged to strengthen both through play.
If Johnson's observations are correct, then this could be just the beginning for Wii Fit and the Balance Board in the field of medicine - and all this for a piece of kit that costs under $90 USD. Exciting times ahead.

Have there been any clinical studies to confirm this claim?
Hi there, Anonymous. =)
I'm not sure about clinical trials, but there have been a number of cases of the Balance Board being used to help patients regain mobility in hospitals. Check out these earlier posts:
