Will Wii Fit become the next treadmill?

The big question about Wii Fit is whether it is a game or not; an exercise program or not... or could it be, as one expert states, the start of a critical intervention to get the sedentary masses up and moving - for it to become as accepted as a treadmill or rowing machine.

Speaking to CNN, Ben Sawyer, the co-founder of the Games for Health Project, which connects researchers, developers and medical professionals to study and find out the best ways that technology can benefit health, reckons Wii Fit could mark the beginning of a big change:

"We need this to be a special form of intervention," he said. For it to really make a widespread cultural dent, Wii Fit needs to be integrated into the likes of schools and gyms, he added.

Only time will tell, we guess. But we're sure it's going to make a real good go of it.
