Wii Fit used in hospital rehabilitation

We've heard previously about Wii Fit could be used to the benefit of those with certain physical illnesses, but this is the first we've heard of any establishment actually going ahead with the scheme.

Patients at the Lake East Hospital in the aptly named Painesville, Ohio, are being encouraged to get active again with the help of Nintendo's new exer-gaming software.

The hospital's Physical Therapist Nancy Ditzel, reports WKYC, explained that patients are more willing to exercise if they're enjoying themselves, and that she'd already noticed improvements in balance, endurance and strength in those taking part in the Wii-habilitation.

The emotional impact of a serious physical illness can be overwhelming. Cancer or heart disease, can make us very anxious and depressed. It can stop us from doing the things we need to do in our daily lives.
