Spanish gentleman Juan M. González [not pictured], a teaching assistant and researcher at the Universidad Autonoma in Madrid has told Balance Board Blog how he eventually plans to develop a Segway-like transportation device that is controlled by the Wii Balance Board.
We first reported on the early stages of González's work in the wee hours of this morning, in which a video shows how he manipulates the movement of a wired robot with the accessory. He hopes to move on to controlling wireless robots, and eventually to create a machine capable of carrying humans, that is controlled simply by the user shifting their weight on the Balance Board - an activity he has dubbed "Robosurfing":
There are a lot of interesting things that can be done. But first it is important to perform some testing... The next stage will be the controlling of faster-and-wireless robots.
We have called this idea "Robosurfing". Instead of using the wii-board to "surf" in virtual environments or controlling virtual vehicles in the games, Why not use it to "surf" real mobile robots in a real scenario? It would be very, very funny.
What a novel idea! We cannot wait to see how González's project progresses.
