Hundreds of online shoppers in the UK desperate to get their hands on a copy of Wii Fit thought their luck was in when they happened across ZavviDirect.co.uk, which despite the nationwide shortage of the game, boasted to have rather a lot of stock.
However, fears have now surfaced that the site is a scam, with some customers having been charged twice for the product, yet not received anything in return. The site, not linked to Zavvi, the high street retailer formerly known as Virgin Megastore, has spoken out to deny any link with Zavvi Direct and to question the company’s ample supply of Nintendo’s exer-gaming title:
“We would love to know where this company is getting its stock of the Wii Fit from. In the UK and Europe it is in such high demand and short supply no one can get their hands on enough – even us,” a Zavvi representative told Computer Active.
Zavvi Direct has now been shut down. Meanwhile, the site's owners are adamant that Wii Fit stock will either be shipped by June 20, or the cost otherwise refunded.
Very suspicious indeed.
