64% of Japanese gamers have given up on Wii Fit

Over 2 million of Japanese 6 million Wii owners might have bought Wii Fit, but a recent poll from the Land of the Rising Sun shows that nearly two-thirds of them have given up on the exer-game since its release there in December 2007.

The survey from ITMedia in Japan revealed that 64% of 1,000 gamers questioned had "stopped using [Wii Fit] after purchase." Ouch.

The full response to the poll was:

22% - I record my progress faithfully everyday.
6% - Maybe once every two or three days.
6% - Once a week.
64% - Stopped using after purchase.

American gamers' Wii Fit habits didn't reflect well either, and Balance Board Blog questioned whether, indeed, Wii Fit is a failure in cultural terms.
