Sooo... despite NGamer 'confirming' that Punch-Out!! Wii would be unveiled at this week's E3 Media and Business Summit, it never did materialise. That said, Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto did make mention of the possibility of it in a discussion with IGN about how it would be perfect with the new MotionPlus add-on for the Wii Remote:
The Wii remote itself is good at detecting larger movements, whereas the Wii MotionPlus is better at detecting more subtle movements. And so, by combining the two of those, the feeling is that it just opens up the palette of what can be done, in terms of motion control. And so that means there's a lot of possibility in terms of something, like a very accurate version of Punch-Out!! that goes beyond what Wii Sports Boxing can do, or even other ideas...
We're still fairly optimistic that Punch-Out!! Wii will be announced at some point in the future, complete with Wii Balance Board controls. It just makes sense!
