3G Studios, the developer of upcoming Balance Board-compatible Nintendo Wii title Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009, has been in touch with Balance Board Blog, and has been kind enough to provide us with the first screenshots of the game.
The images are all work in progress, but do help give us an indication of how the Balance Board will be used to help gamers shape up at Michaels' virtual fitness boot camp. Activities on show include canoeing, attacking a punch bag, and successfully negotiating floating logs from one side of a river to the other - the latter certain to test your balance skills...
...After all, the last thing you'd want to do is soak the avatar that you have created in Fitness Ultimatum's create-a-character mode.
3G tells us that they're currently finalising video footage with Michaels, which we imagine will see the star of NBC's The Biggest Loser encouraging you during your exer-gaming regime.

I'm excited by the fact that there will be new exercise games for the Wii, and was looking forward to this effort.
I also understand these are very preliminary screens, rough ins perhaps, but the screencaps seem very 1998ish in terms of visual quality and such. I hope the final product is much more fluid and polished.
I'm also curious how this game is going to deal with the no-jumping design of the balance board. As an example, the kickboxing seems like it may be torture for the BB if the program is used by someone heavier than normal (or over 250lbs).
As for games I'd like to see: I'd like to see a full blown Mii based boxing training / game regimen from Nintendo... one that takes everything Wii Sports and Wii Fit has for boxing right now, and adds 80% more :). I'd like to see something that has completely customizable routines for rhythm boxing, about 20 levels or more of advancement, and completely random routines. The Expert routine in Wii Fit mixes things up a TINY bit, but it's only five or six patterns, and they're very repetative.
Give me Wii Boxing School, Nintendo! More Billy Blanks-inspired trainers.
would love to see a rocco dispirito type cooking game
The log jumping one reminds me of an old Barbie game for the Sega Megadrive.
