This one's actually a clarinet. They are a bit similar, but the oboe plays higher and has a double reed. And is much more difficult to play well. So I've heard, anyway...
D'oh! I did put clarinet first, then changed it to oboe... and then back again (except for the title of the story!)

What? Clarinets don't use vibrato. Its very difficult. Silly Nintendo.
(Assuming you're refering to the effect of the B-button) that's not vibrato, it trilling. and some clarinetist are extremely adept at vibrato (Acker Bilk). Silly Hotaru.
