EA Fitness to include peripheral to strap on Wii Remote?

Electronic Arts has already hinted once or twice that it plans to release a 'Westernised' version of Wii Fit, but so far we've heard nothing concrete about the tentatively titled EA Fitness.

However, in a Men's Health article, the firm's Dave McCarthy hints at EA's plans, which include a device that will see players strapping the Wii Remote to themselves... while using the Balance Board?

Players will use the add-on to "strap the remotes to their arms or legs to facilitate more athletic movements, from running to jumping jacks," therefore providing a "more authentic, full range of motions."

Whenever we hear anything more, we'll let you know!

Nintendo hints at Wii Music sequel with Wii MotionPlus

Wii Music has only just been released in the US (and Europeans are still waiting for it), but already Nintendo is hinting at a Wii Music 2, complete with improved MotionPlus controls.

Wii Music could make you a real-life drummer!

There have been hints about Wii Music's drum simulator's ability to teach you some real drumming skills, and now Nintendo has given its official line. In the latest 'Iwata Asks' for Wii Music, the firm's head honchos explain:

"Some staff members and I were going through the lessons in order, and since hardly any of us had any experience on the drums, we had a lot of trouble at first.

After that, I wondered if they would be able to play real drums, so we went to a practice studio near the office.

I made a video recording. I had them try beats with quarter note, eighth note and sixteenth note patterns, and they could do it. On real drums!

They crossed their arms the right way and positioned themselves properly. That's unimaginable for beginners! The world's drummer population is going to skyrocket."

Wii Music easy to play, difficult to master says Nintendo

Wii Music was mocked to death after its official unveiling at the E3 Media and Business summit during the summer, and the tirade of video demonstrations since then haven't convinced many gamers that it'll be worth trying.

However, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained that Wii Music's difficulty wasn't properly communicated at E3:

"What's powerful in Wii Music is this juxtaposition of something that looks so simple but is wonderfully difficult to master," he said.

"We may have done that title an injustice at E3 by showing something that looked so easy. We made it appear too simple. Now we're showing the tremendous variety of instruments and tones and how challenging it is to make music that sounds good. We don't publicly talk about sales targets but our expectation is it will be one of our top sellers," he added.

Are you convinced by Wii Music yet? It's out on October 20 in the US and you can click here pre-order it from Amazon.com.
