Wii Fit Helps Parkinson's Disease Sufferers

Friends Mark Davies and Becky Hurd from Worcester in England both suffer from Parkinson's disease, but are fighting back through the use of the Wii and Wii Fit.

Becky said "It gets you moving instinctively which is a problem with Parkinson’s.

Often with movements you have to think a lot about what you are going to do and put a lot of effort in, but with the Wii you just seem to end up doing it.

I would recommend it to anyone with the disease and hopefully they will eventually bring out a specific programme for Parkinson’s."

How Night of Sacrifice Uses Wii Balance Board

Night of the Sacrifice will allow players to walk through its haunted mansion by using the Wii Balance Board, we learn today.

The information comes from retailer Game Star's product page for the title, which also confirms that players will be able to use the Wii Remote as a torch as they explore.

Night of the Sacrifice is slated for release on March 24 in Japan, but so far there is no news on a US release.

Woman Fights off Parkinson's With Wii Fit

A lady from London, England, has fought off Parkinson's by playing Wii Fit.

Diagnosed 18 months ago with Parkinson''s, she was barely able to walk. However, she noticed a massive difference after playing 45 minutes of Wii Fit daily.

Jo said: "I can now do a lot of things again which I couldn't before.

"I've become far more nimble and can walk much further."

Night of the Sacrifice Wii Balance Board Screenshots

Marvelous has teased us with more of Night of the Sacrifice for Wii, its Wii Balance Board-compatible horror title.

Night of the Sacrifice is set in Tsukuyomi Ravine, where people used to make sacrifices to the Gods.

The story sees five kids at a haunted mansion there, where they hear a young girl calling for help. This unleashes a curse which leads to their death, and gives you the responsibility of investigating the spooky goings ons.

Gamers use the Wii remote as a flashlight in order to explore the building, and the game will be split into episodes shared out between four playable characters.

As for how the Wii Balance Board is used? No clues yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Survivor for Wii Supports Wii Balance Board

CBS' hit television game show Survivor has now received a US release, after a prior European release as Koh-Lanta in Europe.

In the Wii version of Survivor, up to 4 players compete for survival in 24 island challenges straight out of the TV show. Featuring the voice of the Survivor host Jeff Probst, Survivor has 16 playable characters, who separate into two tribes - Tribe Jalapao or Tribe Timbira.

Wii Fit and Wii Balance Board Helps Parkinson's Disease Sufferer

A UK man is using Wii Fit and Wii Balance Board to help him manage his Parkinson's symptoms.

Vincent Wells, 64, from Colwyn Bay in Wales, said:

"I mainly use the Wii Fit Plus. The games using the balance board help keep you sharp and maintain balance."

He added: "I recently found that the yoga programmes with the Wii board are also very helpful to my core strength and balance. I used to train for sports but I now train to just keep active.”

A spokesperson for Parkinson's UK said: “Following a survey of around 100 people with Parkinson's who use the Wii, two thirds felt that using the Wii helps them manage their symptoms better. They also reported an improvement in their balance, which helps prevent falls that are common with Parkinson's."

Wii Balance Board Horror Title on the Way

Japanese developer Marvelous has a new Wii horror adventure game on the way, for release on March 24 next year, and the title is confirmed to include Wii Balance Board support.

Other than that Ikenie no Yoru (which roughly translates as Night Sacrifice) is the name of the game, details are sparse.

We'll bring you more as we get them.
